Digital Designer

We’re on the lookout for an experienced website designer who can work across a range of projects from early conceptual wireframes through to detailed designs and specifications.

Digital Designer (Web/UX)

We’re currently looking for a creative and enthusiastic Digital Designer to join the team in our Harrogate office (currently working remotely). This role provides an opportunity to work on exciting brands across multiple industry sectors including retail, food and drink, leisure, health and pet.

We design and create websites of all types and sizes for our clients, from highly-optimised campaign landing pages to big eCommerce, from brochure sites to large, custom-build web applications. We’re looking for an experienced website designer who can work across a range of projects from early conceptual wireframes through to detailed designs and specifications.

Reporting to the Head of Design & UX, you’ll be responsible for taking a set of business requirements, developing ideas and bringing them to life through design. This role is a blend of UX and UI design — with the main focus on the UI/visuals — so a solid understanding of designing for the web is required.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients and other members of the team to gather and document project requirements
  • Produce high-fidelity design comps and detailed specifications for development handover
  • Champion usability and accessibility ensuring best practices are followed
  • Design information architecture including sitemaps and navigation
  • Design user flows, wireframes and prototypes to communicate the user experience
  • Work with Project Managers to agree timelines and meet project milestones

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Can demonstrate an excellent portfolio of work that showcases creativity and a high standard of execution
  • Is competent using UI design tools: Figma, Sketch or Adobe XD
  • Has a good working knowledge of interaction design principles, usability best practices and web accessibility guidelines
  • Has the ability to design at scale; creating design systems with modular, component-based designs
  • Can work closely with developers to create solutions
  • Is comfortable presenting and sharing their work and likes to bring other members of the team into their process
  • Has a keen eye for detail
  • Is a team player with a positive attitude and great communication skills

Bonus points for any of the following:

  • Knowledge of CMS or eCommerce platforms (Wordpress, Craft CMS, Shopify)
  • An understanding of HTML & CSS (you will not be required to write code as part of this role, but some knowledge will be useful)
  • Experience with facilitating workshops or user research
  • Experience with user testing
  • Experience with Google Analytics, Hotjar or other quantitative reporting tools
