SHORTLISTED: Extreme’s Distinguished Dev Team

Sound that awards klaxon — we've got some exciting news to share...

Now, we don’t like to blow our own trumpet, but it’s fair to say that we’re no strangers to an awards party.

And, on that note, we’ve got some great news to kick off the 2020 awards season…

We’re delighted to announce that some of the fantastic work that our devs got up to in 2019 has been nominated for a number of Northern Dev Awards!

Hosted by Don’t Panic, this all-new awards ceremony “shines a spotlight on, celebrates and rewards the stars of delivering website excellence in the North.”

Which is why we’re Extreme-ly proud to have been shortlisted for not one but two awards this year! Drum roll… 🥁

🏆 B2B Website of the Year

🏆 Best Deployment of a CMS

Our recent work for Ramsden International - the leading UK wholesale exporter of British grocery brands to over 130 countries - is what caught the judges’ eyes, securing us both shortlistings.

Communicating a ‘best-in-class’ B2B business…

Ramsden’s old website was failing to show the company as a ‘best in class’ provider, and didn’t communicate the brand’s value-added service. Aside from looking really dated, it was also rather slow!

By the time our devs had worked their magic, the website matched the quality and service Ramsden International are renowned for.

A new interface meant customers could easily interact with complex order systems, resulting in a strong increase in customer engagement — particularly impressing the judges.

The redesign of the website also involved a full UX process, creating a customer experience that is smoother than ever; strategically-placed content and trust signals now reinforce Ramsden’s position as a ‘best-in-class’ wholesale distributor.

The full website refresh has not only updated their digital presence, it’s made content management much simpler and allowed for a smoother customer journey.

We think that deserves an A+.

Now you see me, now you CMS

In addition to providing a fresh new look and smooth customer experience, Ramsden needed a solution that successfully moved customers over to the new ordering system.

A complex task, indeed.

Early on in the project, we adopted Craft CMS 3. As an agency with bountiful experience of Craft CMS 2 (we’ve even a Craft CMS listed partner!), we were excited to try our hand with version 3.

The project involved custom integration with ROCS (a custom order system) and was the first Craft CMS 3 plugin our development team worked on.

The architecture of plugins changed greatly between v2 and v3 of the software, and so to integrate with a complex system was a huge achievement for the team.

We also aimed to improve the experience of users interacting with the order system; this involved very complex business logic. As a result, the new website was also integrated with Sage CRM to streamline new business enquiries.

The end product? Our devs delivered an engaging, well-structured website that meets the needs of both the customers and service support team.

Whatever the award results, we’re extremely proud of the team and all their hard work.

We look forward to the event on the 25th February! Time to get suited and booted — keep your eye out for any updates!
